At The Assembly House in Norwich this Thursday 1pm
This Thursday lunchtime Assembly House Classical are really excited to present a concert by the renowned Fitzwilliam Quartet.
The Fitzwilliam Quartet became well known through their close association with Dmitri Shostakovich, who met them on a visit to York. He entrusted them with the Western premières of his last three quartets, and they were the first quartet to perform and record all fifteen. The quartet was founded in 1968 by four Cambridge undergraduates and is now one of the longest established quartets in the world.
The programme for the afternoon includes –
Bach – Art of Fugue No 1
Shostakovich – String Quartet No 11
Beethoven – String Quartet Op 131
Tickets are selling well in advance but there still some available to buy online and we will make some available to purchase on the door this Thursday from 12:15 pm when doors open. The concert itself will start at the usual time of 1:00 pm.
