Into Opera Festival 8-11 August 2019

Message from director Genevieve Raghu

The inaugural season of the Norfolk Into Opera Festival opens today at the beautiful Octagon Barn in Little Plumstead! If you can make it along between 8-11 August it would be great to see you there.

Classic FM have picked up on our Norfolk theme for The Elixir of Love and news of the festival:

I should say that there won’t be any live animals in our production (!) although three little pigs do feature in one moment of the show…!

The Elixir of Love will be performed with orchestra, Istante Collective conducted by John Andrews on 8/10/11 August starring international tenor Thomas Elwin and soprano Fleur de Bray. Our Opera Unwrapped Gala Concert headlined by lyric tenor Christopher Turner with remarkable pianist Charles Kilpatrick, takes place on 9th August and at the concert there will be a glass of champagne for all guests on arrival and a string quartet playing during this pre-concert reception! Children from St Francis of Assisi Primary, Avenue Junior and Sprowston Junior will feature alongside our professional artists in this production.
I really would be so grateful for your support and it would be wonderful to see you there if you can make it along. Hopefully this will be the first of many seasons for the opera festival in Norfolk!
We have a pop-up bar on site serving a selection of drinks including our very own Elixir of Love cocktail! Audiences are encouraged to bring picnics/picnic blankets etc for weekend matinee performances and a hog roast and vegetarian buffet is included in the ticket price for the opening night on Thursday.
