  • Mozart: Variations on ‘Salve tu Domine’, K.398
  • Debussy: Images Book 1
  • Berg: Sonata, Op.1
  • Brahms: Three Intermezzi, Op.117
  • Brahms: Sonata in C, Op. 1

A unique opportunity to hear the prize-winning Turkish-American pianist Tolga Atalay Ün. In September 2016, he was selected as a scholar for the ‘Young Musicians on World Stages’ project established by the well-known piano duo of Güher and Süher Pekinel. Here, Ün plays Berg’s romantically inclined Sonata Op.1, written during his period of study with Schoenberg, and the Op.1 Sonata by Brahms – a youthful work on a grand scale. Nearly 40 years later, Brahms composed his Three Intermezzi Op.117, which he once described as “the cradle songs of my suffering”.

‘We all loved the workshop and the children have all been talking about what instruments they want to learn!  Brilliant!  Please let the musicians know they have inspired the children.’

‘It’s an experience that many of our children would not otherwise ever have the chance to take part in. ‘

‘To watch the reactions of our children experiencing this was spine tingling, lump-in-the-throat.’
