Choral music from the Americas, including the earliest printed polyphonic piece from South America. Much of the programme is based around the music of Juan Gutiérrez de Padilla, who moved to Mexico from Spain in 1622. A double-choir psalm and a Mass setting will be contrasted with other shorter pieces, some in the Quechua language. Pieces by North American composers Leonard Bernstein (choruses from The Lark) and Eric Whitacre (Cloudburst) and the Argentinean Astor Piazzolla (Libertango) will complete the programme, much of which will also include an assortment of percussion.
