Norwich Cathedral Choir to launch new CD

Norwich Cathedral Choir will release its first CD in over seven years later this month.

Recorded by Priory Records, the highly anticipated Sunday at Norwich Cathedral CD was recorded in February 2014 and features music heard at Eucharist and Festal Evensong services on a Sunday at the Cathedral. The repertoire includes hymns, the Missa Brevis by Grayston Ives, works by composers with local connections, including Peter Aston, Philip Ledger and Richard Allain, and concludes with Elgar’s great anthem Give unto the Lord and the Te Deum Laudamus by Herbert Howells.

Speaking on the upcoming release of the CD, Ashley Grote, Master of Music at Norwich Cathedral said, “I am very excited to be able to release a new CD with the Cathedral Choir. It is wonderful for us to have a permanent record of their singing, which continues to go from strength to strength. The selection of music should appeal to the large number of visitors to the Cathedral, to our congregation and to serious music lovers alike”.

Sunday at Norwich Cathedral will be launched on Sunday 15 June at 11.45am with a short recital, featuring extracts from the recording, performed by the Cathedral Choir. The CD will go on sale at an introductory price of £10 (usual price £13.50) and can be pre-ordered by calling 01603 218323, emailing giftshop@cathedral.org.uk or visiting the Cathedral Gift Shop.
