This Festival premiere brings together Shingai Shoniwa from The Noisettes with twice Mercury nominated producer Dave Okumu and his band The Invisible.
Shingai and Dave have been commissioned by Serious to write a piece titled Stars Align that draws on the pair’s African heritage and features a 20-strong East London choir.
Norfolk & Norwich festival will premiere this very special collaboration, along with other music written by Shoniwa and Okumu, exclusive new tracks from The Invisible’s third album (due on Ninja Tune later this year), and drastic reworkings of Noisettes classics like Don’t Upset The Rhythm and Never Forget You.
Following on from producing Jessie Ware’s Mercury NominatedDevotion album, Dave Okumu has been working with Grace Jones, Anna Calvi, Paloma Faith and Kwabs.
