A feast of new programmes to delight you from Academy of St Thomas!
Saturday 1st March 2014
St. Andrew’s Hall, Norwich – 7.30pm
St David’s Day Concert
Dohnanyi – Concertino for harp
Brahms – Symphony No 2
Danielle Perrett – harp
Christopher Adey – conductor
In 2014 we have drawn up 3 concert programmes to offer, covering a variety of music with the odd lesser known work for which the AST has been so complimented for. The first concert is a perfect example of this as harpist Danielle Perrett who has played so many times with the orchestra, will perform the Concertino for Chamber orchestra and harp by the Hungarian composer Dohnanyi. She will also play the popular Danse Sacree et danse profane by Debussy. Danielle is in great demand all over the world as a player and we are delighted that she is going to join us as a soloist.
The concert will begin with the lively Dances from Galanta by Kodaly and will conclude with the majestic Symphony No 2 in D major by Brahms.
Tickets for March 1st March are on sale at Prelude Records.
The orchestra is very dependent on our Patrons and sponsorship in order to sustain this level of music making. This is an area that is getting increasingly harder for organisations such as ours. Do consider becoming a Patron and/or if you know anyone who might like to sponsor us do ask them to be in touch. By becoming a Patron and contributing from £15 per year, you have the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting what has become known as one of the best ensembles of its kind in the country. All the musicians give their services in return for music-making at this level and working with high calibre soloists and conductors. Full details and standing order forms are on our website or just email me and I will send one.
